Both work centers and resources are master data that reflect a specific location where manufacturing activities are executed, based on defined order requirements. It can be an individual or group of individuals, a machine or group of machines.  Work centers are used in the discrete production while resources are used in process manufacturing. Technically, they are differentiated by a 4-digit control function called work center category.
