What is Kanban manufacturing in SAP?

Kanban manufacturing in SAP is a production process that is aimed at having reduced stock levels and shorter lead times. With Kanban, production of a material is only triggered when a pre-specified quantity of the material has been consumed. Kanban production replenishes stocks based on a pull system by using the Kanban card.
