SAP provides both manual reorder point planning and automatic reorder point planning functionality to trigger the replenishment of materials earmarked for reorder point planning. In SAP, activation of procurement starts when the reorder point is greater than the addition of the plant stock and the firmed receipts. In manual reorder point planning, the reorder level and safety stock are maintained in the material master, whereas automatic reorder planning leverages historical consumption info to forecast future requirements.
