Fatal error in cross-application document numbering

What causes this issue?

You want to cancel a document or a document item. At least one item from
this document has already been set in a follow-on document and is still
active.

System Response

The system cannot cancel the document or item.

How to fix this error?

First ensure that the document either contains only active items (items
are not set in a follow-on document) or inactive items (items are set in
a follow-on document.)

Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
