Characteristic &1 and value scale &2 do not match

What causes this issue?

The characteristic and <DS:GLOS.352A8D36D3895CD5E10000009B38F974>value
scale</> you entered do not match. A different value scale has been
assigned to the characteristic and not the one entered.
This error can also occur if a characteristic has not been assigned a
value scale and the value scale you entered belongs to a different
characteristic.

How to fix this error?

Change your entry in the "Characteristic" field or in the "Value scale"
field. You can also delete your data in the field with the incorrect
data and have the system determine the required value scale or
characteristic.
