Connection test for RFC destination &1 failed (see longtext)

What causes this issue?

Destination or object provider &V1& could be reached but a failure has
occurred in the target system. Typical causes are listed below.

It is possible to store the configuration. Before it can be used,
however, the issue has to be corrected.

Procedure for System Administrators

If function SCA_REMOTE_DATA_VERSION cannot be found, please check
whether the remote stub is correctly installed in the target system
If an authorization failure has occurred, please check if the user which
is assigned to the destination, is authorized to call the respective
stub functions.
If syntax errors have occurred, please check the correct installation of
the RFC stub.
