Forecast profile assignment is not unique

What causes this issue?

The system attempted to find a forecast profile that was assigned to a
selection. There are several possible assigned profiles. This situation
can arise if there are multiple assignments of identical selections with
different key figures. Another possible cause is that multiple assigned
selections have the same number of identical characteristic values. For
example, you forecast product P1 and location L1 for the selection. A
forecast profile assignment exists for the product P1 selection and an
assignment exists for the location L1 selection. You have set the
indicator that the assignment should also apply for subordinate
selections for both assignments.

System Response

The system decides (at random) to search possibilities for the first
entry.

How to fix this error?

Do not use assignments that have identical selections and different key
figures. Use BAdI /SAPAPO/SDP_FCST5 with method CHARS_ORDER. You can
then specify priorities for characteristics in a selection. For example,
you can specify that it is more important for the product characteristic
to be the same than it is for the location characteristic. This allows
the best assignment to be determined uniquely.

Procedure for System Administrators

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
