Processing in Warehouse timed out; processing steps mising

What causes this issue?

It can sometimes take a long time to complete processing for a request
in the BW system. The processing step &V1& has not been executed yet.

System Response

Callers are still missing.

How to fix this error?

Check the process overview in the BW system to see if processes are
running under the background user in the BW system.
If this is not the case, check the short dump overview in the BW system.
