Recreated variable has an inconsistent state

What causes this issue?

Creating a new variable has been interrupted before the variable was
consistently defined

You receive a warning, that an inconsistent condition has arisen

How to fix this error?

Delete the corresponding variable in the overview screen and recreate
the variable once again.
Enter the 'basic data', and confirm your entries (by pushing the enter
button). You get to the 'detailed data. There, fill in the
corresponding required entry fields to make the variable definition
consistent.
