Line item &. Only 999 lines allowed

What causes this issue?

You can enter up to 999 line items for each Extended General Ledger
document.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Please close the document before the number range is exhausted.
