What causes this issue?

The document contains a ledger or ledger group and therefore cannot be
used as reference document in transaction &v2&.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

The reference document &v1& can only be used in the transaction &v3& as
template.
