Revision level & is not higher than previous revision level

What causes this issue?

You want to assign a revision level to a change status of an object
(for example, a material).
Settings in the "Engineering change management" IMG step "Set up
Control Data" determine that, when you assign a revision level
externally, you must always assign a higher revision level from the
sequence defined.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Choose a revision level that from the sort sequence that has a higher
value than the last revision level assigned.
