Cannot determine item number of material doc. for labeling scenario &1

What causes this issue?

The system searched for a material document item number during parameter
determination. The search failed. The system cannot determine the
symbol values for labeling scenario &V1& without a material document
item number.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?
