Internal error: characteristic name not consistent with number

What causes this issue?

You want to create a <DS:GLOS.characteristic>characteristic</> with a
characteristic name that is within a reserved name range. However, the
characteristic number inferred from the characteristic name is not from
within the reserved number range.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?
