What causes this issue?

Saving the data for document &V1& &V2& &V3& &V4& has failed.

System Response

Generation was not completed successfully.

How to fix this error?

Check the Windows event log on the WWI generation server. The event log
may contain other error messages. Note 1058521 provides possible
remedies for the error that occurred.
Check in Customizing in the IMG activity
<DS:SIMG.SIMG_VC_DVS30>Define Workstation Application</> whether the
file format *.* is assigned to the workstation application WWI.
Check the Customizing of the document types in the IMG activity
<DS:SIMG.EHS_SR_210_10_10>Check Document Types and Document Statuses
</>.
Check the RFC connection to the WWI generation server.
If the error occurs when printing documents, make sure that a default
printer is installed on the WWI generation server.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
