No user status for direct input available

What causes this issue?

You want to set or delete a user status with the direct entry function,
but the current status object is not assigned to a status schema.

System Response

Direct entry is not possible.

How to fix this error?

A schema must be entered in the "Status schema" field before you can
set a user status.
If no user status is intended for the current status object type, this
field is not ready for input. Direct input is then not possible.
