Special character "&" is not supported in DEUEV (&)

What causes this issue?

For last names, only letters, digits, blanks, hyphens, apostrophes and
a period are allowed.
For first names, only letters, hyphens and blanks are allowed.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
