Farook Kahalil SAP TrainingSAP is one of the largest business software companies in the world and is utilized by global organizations in over 180 countries to streamline many of their operating workflows. However, the scale of SAP programming can make it challenging to integrate into an already established organizational structure. Michael Management has outlined several key factors that lead to a successful and smooth ERP transition:

Process deep-dive

Whether documented or undocumented, every business follows certain operational processes. How many of these businesses, however, have the tools and capabilities to consistently run these processes systematically and smoothly? Not very many, I would say. A successful ERP implementation allows a business these capabilities. However, this is only possible if there is complete clarity around the areas where the existing process falters, gets bottlenecked or fails altogether. If you’re looking to make your investment in SAP training a profitable one, ensure these elements are streamlined early on in the new system. My tips?

1). Engaging in early trial runs

2). Putting the new system to the test

3). Ensuring that all process flows run flawlessly.

Engage your users in this, and you have the most effective form of training covered as well.

User documentation

No matter how well you train your resources, a user guide / cheat sheet / walk-through, will provide your people the additional confidence and knowledge base they require to operate with minimal intervention and human support. This documentation also serves as a book of law for the new world your users are now a part of. Building a useful set of user documents and guides can be a complex and time-consuming process, but it is an investment that is worth the time and effort required.

While you might be concerned that the risk isn’t worth the reward, with the right preparation, there’s no reason for a business to not be able to implement a new ERP system smoothly, as well as gain real-world benefits from it. Tune in next week for the follow up to this series where we will share a few more useful tips!
